Small striped bass are often called "schoolies". No matter what size, they are a great looking fish. This one was caught (and released) using a technique called tube & worm where a plastic tube is used to mimic an eel. The hook is tipped with a live sandworm or in this case, a plastic one. The nice thing about this method of fishing is the fish are almost always hooked in the corner of the mouth which makes for a safe and easy release. Of course it's much more fun to catch them when they grow up to be 40lbs or more, but I'll save that for another day.

i love catching schoolies! the tube and worm method gets them the best if your in a small boat or kayak near the marsh or small creeks. that is when you get them were they spawn in the spring and early summer.
